Frequently asked

What is probate?
Probate is the court process that confirms a Will is valid and gives the executor authority to act. In Ontario this is called a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee. We can prepare and file the application.
Do all estates need to be probated?
Not always — it depends on the assets involved. We can review the estate and advise whether probate is required.
What happens if there is no Will?
The estate is distributed according to Ontario’s intestacy rules, and someone must apply to administer it. We guide families through that process.
